Emlid Flow: NTRIP on Reach (RX / RS3 / RS2+ / RS4)

For crews running a Reach rover who want network RTK without a second receiver on a pole or Emlid Caster. Flow uses the phone's internet and sends corrections to the receiver over Bluetooth. Works with RTCM3 (MSM4 and later), which is what rtkUSA sends.

Useful range is about 25 km from a live station. One stream at a time.

Send receiver's position (GGA)On — required

AUTO needs your position. If GGA is off you will sit on FLOAT.

Steps

  1. Phone online, rover in the open. Turn the Reach on. Open Emlid Flow and connect to the receiver (Bluetooth is the usual path). The phone needs cell data. Reach RX always uses the phone's internet. RS2+ / RS3 / RS4 can also pull NTRIP through the receiver's own SIM or Wi-Fi.
  2. GNSS settings (RS2+ / RS3 / RS4 only). Settings → GNSS settings. Kinematic, elevation mask 15°, SNR mask 35, all constellations on, 5 Hz. Apply. Skip this on Reach RX.
  3. Correction input → NTRIP. Open Correction input. Bluetooth to the rover: NTRIP via mobile device (uses the phone's internet). Receiver has a SIM or Wi-Fi: NTRIP via Reach. One correction source. Do not run LoRa base and NTRIP at the same time.
  4. Add the rtkUSA profile. Tap Add profile. Address rtk.geodnet.com, Port 2101, dashboard username/password, Mount Point AUTO in all caps. Turn Send receiver's position to the provider on. Save. You should see Waiting for corrections, then data once the sky is clear.
  5. Project CRS is not the mountpoint. Coordinate system lives on the survey project, not in the NTRIP profile. Do not type a CRS name into Mount Point.
    • Smoke test: New project → Coordinate system → Global CS. With AUTO in the US that is NAD83(2011).
    • Production US work: pick a library CS based on NAD83(2011) (State Plane, etc.) and a NAVD88 geoid if you need orthometric heights. A project on WGS84 / ITRF while the stream is NAD83(2011) will shift every point.
  6. Watch for FIX. Status in the top right: SINGLE (meter) → FLOAT (corrections in) → FIX (centimeter). Do not stake until FIX. Reach RX keeps NTRIP after the screen locks.

Reach uses about 16 MB of cell data per device over an 8-hour day. A second Reach on the same login will knock the first off.

No FIX?

  • GGA / send receiver's position is on
  • Mount point is AUTO, all caps
  • Address rtk.geodnet.com, port 2101
  • Dashboard creds, not website login
  • Phone (or Reach SIM) has cell data. Bluetooth is not internet by itself
  • 30° of open sky
  • Project CRS matches the stream. US AUTO = NAD83(2011)
  • Within about 25 km of a live station
  • Only one device on the account. No LoRa base running in parallel
